Exploring the Possibilities, Challenges, and
Processes of Governance in Online Education

Will online education revolutionize educational access and opportunity, or will it accelerate a downward spiral in educational quality? And what role does governance play in determining the outcome? How do we look at issues such as accountability, transparency, inclusiveness, and access in relation to education more generally, and specifically to online learning? In this virtual symposium, we will explore the possibilities, challenges, and processes of governance in online education.

This online symposium is being convened by Project Ungoverned?, which takes place within the Bosch Alumni Network – a network which consists of people who’ve been supported in one way or another by the Robert Bosch Stiftung. The network is coordinated by the International Alumni Center (iac Berlin), a think and do tank for alumni communities with social impact.

We invite researchers, practitioners, industry leaders, experts, educators, and graduate students to contribute to our virtual symposium, which marks the second phase of Project Ungoverned? and will follow our six-episode podcast series. During this podcast series, launching in November 2018, we explore with our guests governance in online higher education and online schooling/K-12 education, new ways of teaching and learning using technology, and the future of online education, among other themes. We welcome contributions on these topics and new ones from international perspectives.

How will the symposium work?
Each presenter will have 20 minutes for their web-based presentation before a question and answer session. Presenters will be asked to share their presentations in advance with Project Ungoverned? The working language of the symposium is English.

Deadline for submissions is 15th November 2018
Notifications will go out the week of 19th November 2018
Deadline for submissions of final presentations is 7th January 2019
The online symposium will take place on 24th January 2019
